Farm to Market Road 1740 or FM 1740 is a two-lane, state-maintained highway that connects Wichita Falls with farming areas in northeastern Wichita County and northwestern Clay County. It was designated in October 1955.

History
FM 1740 was designated in 1951 from FM 171 to the Clay County Line. In 1952, FM 1740 extended north 1.6 miles to a road intersection. In 1955, FM 1740 extended north to FM 810.
