Farm to Market Road 1959 (FM 1959) is a state highway in southeast Harris County in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area.
The road, known locally as Dixie Farm Road, is a very short road at 1.3 miles (2.1 km). It passes from Interstate 45 to the entrance to Ellington Field on SH 3 just to the northeast.
FM 1959 was officially cancelled in 1995 in favor of Urban Road 1959 (UR 1959), but the usage is limited only to official state records.
Route description
FM 1959 begins at an interchange with I-45 in Houston, Harris County, heading northeast on Dixie Farm Road, a five-lane road with a center left-turn lane. The road heads through residential and commercial areas. FM 1959 comes to its terminus at an intersection with SH 3 at the entrance to Ellington Field.[1][2][3]
History
FM 1959 was designated in 1952 to run from US 75 to Ellington Field on its current alignment. The highway officially became UR 1959 in 1995.[1]
