Farm to Market Road 955 (FM 955) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that stays within Fayette County. The highway begins at State Highway 71 (SH 71) northwest of Ellinger and goes northeast to end at State Highway 159 (SH 159) in Fayetteville.

Route description

FM 955 starts at a stop sign on SH 71 1.8 miles (2.9 km) northwest of Ellinger. From this point, FM 955 heads to the northeast. At a distance of 1.0 mile (1.6 km) from its start, FM 955 intersects with Schumacher Road coming from the southeast. There are no other significant intersections between Schumacher Road and Fayetteville. As FM 955 enters the western part of Fayetteville, it crosses a disused railroad and is called West Market Street. The highway ends at the intersection with Rusk Street, which is also SH 159. FM 955 is roughly parallel with FM 2503 which is located approximately 2.0 miles (3.2 km) to the southeast.[2]

History

FM 955 was originally designated on November 23, 1948 to begin at SH 71 a distance of 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of Ellinger and go about 4.8 miles (7.7 km) to SH 159 in Fayetteville. The route has not been changed since the initial authorization.[1]
