Farol de São Miguel-o-Anjo or Lighthouse of San Miguel the Angel is a lighthouse in Porto, Portugal.
History
The Farol de São Miguel-o-Anjo is Portugal's oldest existing lighthouse and was built in 1527. It was built by the order of the Bishop of Viseu, Dom Miguel da Silva, and designed by the Italian architect Francesco da Cremona. On the outside it's rectangular but inside it's octagonal. It was decommissioned in 1882 when it was replaced by the Farol da Senhora da Luz.[2]
