Biography

Fatiniza Gamarra Ponzon was born and raised in the mountains of Bucaramanga, Colombia, and raised to the beat of Latin rhythms. As a girl she would scribble down lyrics and hum melodies, which have matured into a gift to write great songs. Her professional singing career started in 2010 in Dubai when she signed to an independent music label Daxar Music and released her debut album Confusion.[1]

The album which includes singles "Out of Control" and "The One" features a powerful mix of Rock & Pop with a contemporary Latin edge in "Hard to be your Woman" and echoes mystical Asia in "Fortune Teller".[2]

Confusion went straight into the Virgin Music top 10 in Dubai and earned her a nomination for a Time Out Dubai Nightlife Award for Best Artist in 2010.

In May 2011 Fatiniza signed to Colombian music label Millenium Representaciones de Colombia who released her debut album Confusion and single of the same in Colombia peaking in the singles charts at number 23.[3]

Since her debut, Fatiniza has established herself as one of Dubai’s brightest stars on the music scene – nominated for Time Out’s Music & Nightlife Awards’ ‘Best Artist in Dubai’ for 2010, 2011 and 2012, as well as Ahlan’s Best Artist in Dubai for 2012 and becoming one of Dubai’s Hot 100 individuals in 2013.

In 2011 Fatiniza was listed in the top 100 most influential International in the world placing her in the top 5 most influential Colombian musicians in the music world.

In 2012 Fatiniza cleaned up at the prestigious Bite My Music Global Awards 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, the world’s biggest independent music awards, taking first place for ‘Best Female Act’ and first place for ‘Song of the Year’ with her debut single Out of Control.

In March 2013 Fatiniza released her much-anticipated follow-up album ‘Nothing is Impossible’, after joining forces once more with producer Joshua F. Williams, who has worked with artists including Stevie Wonder, Akon, Fergie and Bruce Springsteen, as well as local talents Karl Wolf, Juliana Down and Gayathri.
