February is a 2015 American horror thriller film directed and written by Oz Perkins. The film stars Emma Roberts, Lucy Boynton, Kiernan Shipka, James Remar and Lauren Holly. It premiered at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival.

Plot

Joan makes a bloody and determined pilgrimage across a frozen landscape toward a prestigious all girls prep school where Rose and Kat find themselves stranded after their parents mysteriously fail to retrieve them for winter break. As Joan gets closer, terrifying visions begin plaguing Kat while Rose watches in horror as she becomes possessed by an unseen evil force.

In August 2014, it was announced that Oz Perkins would be making his directorial debut with February, from his own script. It was also reported that Kiernan Shipka and Emma Roberts were cast in main roles for the film.[1] In February 2015, Lucy Boynton, Lauren Holly and James Remar joined the cast.[2]

Filming

Principal photography for the film began in February 2015 in Kemptville, Ontario, Canada.[3]

Marketing

In August 2015, BloodyDisgusting.com revealed an exclusive poster art of the film.[4] That same month, three images from the film were released featuring Kiernan Shipka and Lucy Boyton were released.[5] In September 2015, Joblo.com released an exclusive clip from the film, featuring Kiernan Shipka.[6] That same month, the first trailer for the film was released.[7]

Release

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, 2015.[8] Shortly after, A24 Films and DirecTV Cinema acquired U.S distribution rights to the film.[9] The film had its North American premiere at the Fantastic Fest on September 24, 2015.[10] In November 2015, it was announced that the film had sold to various international territories at the AFM including the U.K, France, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, New Poland, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam, and the Middle East.[11]
