Ferdinand Ries Symphony No. 7

Ferdinand Ries (1784–1838) wrote his Symphony No. 7 in A minor, op 181 in 1835. It is chronologically the last symphony that Ries wrote. This symphony continues the Beethovian style with redolences drawn from the seventh, sixth (Pastoral), and Beethovens's third (Eroica).

This symphony is written in four movements and is scored for an orchestra. Information regarding the tempo for each movement would be as follows.

The lively finale (fourth movement) has a distinct Rossinian and Neapolitan feel to it, and the scherzo (third movement) has a Lisztian start to it.
