FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) is an environmental sustainability company that provides consulting, software and data management to businesses and governments. The company is headquartered in Irvine, California, with additional offices in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. In 2011, FCS became the exclusive scoring partner of CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), supply chain program.

Sustainability

Amid rising awareness of the impact businesses can have on the environment, many companies have begun implementing sustainability initiatives. This involves examining business processes and practices in terms of people, planet and profit, and seeking out ways to create a positive impact in each of these areas. While more well known for environmental sustainability, FCS also provides social sustainability software solutions.

Environmental Planning & Resource Management Services

FCS has worked on 6,000+ projects for various companies, governments, institutions and non-profit organizations to gain the necessary approvals to develop land. Services include:

Entitlements & Permitting

Entitlements are usually defined as the rights and restrictions that are given through a zoning, site plan, platting approval or development order by a local government. These rights describe the land uses, number of units, or square footage of buildings allowed by the approval. Through land use and planning application processing, as well as environmental study and report preparation, FCS works with companies and governments to obtain site development approvals for projects.

Supply Chain

Supply chain management (SCM) is the management of the flow of goods. This includes the movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption. FCS provides supply chain solutions that include consulting, software, and data processing and covers energy use, water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and waste. Specifically, FCS assists initiatives in improving the environmental impacts and sustainability of a supply chain through the following:

History

In 2007, ADEC Solutions (now ADEC Group) began tracking carbon emissions and environmental data for its clients. The following year, the company established FCS to provide solutions for monitoring and managing greenhouse gas emissions. In 2010, FCS acquired Enverity Corporation and its ghgTrackSoftware, and expanded operations in China, where the company offers the Mandarin version of FirstCarbon Solutions ghgTrack software. In 2011, FCS was selected by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) as their Supply Chain Scoring Partner. Since that time, FCS has extended its scoring services to CDP’s investor program and has scored companies from the Nordic (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden), DACH (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) and Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) regions in Northern Europe, Australia, New Zealand and India. The company is also a Gold Consultancy Partner and a Silver Software Partner for CDP.

In 2012, FCS acquired Michael Brandman Associates (MBA), a 30-year-old environmental planning services firm that provided public agencies and private clients with environmental consulting services. Most recently, Friends of Hollywood Central Park (FHCP) requested FCS prepare and deliver comprehensive documentation, technical analyses and an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Hollywood Central Park (HCP) project's compliance with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements. In addition, FCS is working with Compass Group on the carbon tracking component of its Carbon FOODprint toolkit.
