Fisher College is a private, nonprofit, independent institution that grants Baccalaureate and Associate degrees—as well as a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Strategic Leadership. Fisher College has coeducational student body. Fisher's main campus is located on Beacon Street in Boston.

Fisher also has satellite locations in North Attleboro, Brockton, and New Bedford. The College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Fisher College has attributed its success over the past decade to its historic and world renowned location, highly educated staff (of which 9/10 hold the highest degree in their field) and independent student body. Fisher College specializes in a number of concentrations ranging from Criminal justice to Fashion.

With a 2015 Student body count of just over 2,500 students (includes Accelerated and Professional Studies students) , Fisher’s small class size grants students an individualized experience with inter-university departments. This access to departments like Career Services, Financial Aid, and Student Involvement and Leadership, is often not possible for larger institutions.

History

The College was founded in 1903 by Myron C. Fisher and Edmund H. Fisher under the name Winter Hill Business College. The curriculum developed at the time emphasized vocational preparation, a tradition that has strongly influenced the College's mission over the years. In 1910, the name of the institution was changed to Fisher Business College. The original campus was located in Somerville, Massachusetts, and was moved to the current Beacon Street location in 1939. The Beacon Street site is featured on the on the Boston Women's Heritage Trail.[2] During the 1940s, the College was split into two separate entities: The Fisher School for Men and The Fisher School for Women. In 1975, the Division of Accelerated and Professional Studies was established. Today, the Division of Accelerated and Professional Studies (DAPS) offers degree programs at their Boston, North Attleboro, Brockton, and New Bedford locations. In 1998, the College established an Online Division, currently ranked #12 best in the nation by OEDb, a nationally recognized distance learning organization.

The College's Day Division became co-educational in 1998.

Satellite campuses

In addition to Fisher's main campus in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, the College has three other physical campuses within Massachusetts that offer DAPS programming. Fisher's Brockton campus is the most recent location addition, opening its doors in 2011. The North Attleboro and New Bedford campuses have been operating since 1997.
