Design Three horizontal stripes of blue (top), gold (middle) and green (bottom). The coat of arms of Cagayan is off-centered toward the hoist.

The current Flag of Cagayan was adopted on March 11, 1970 by the virtue of Resolution No. 319 of the Cagayan Municipal Board.[1]

The flag of Cagayan is a horizontal triband with the following colors from top to bottom; blue, gold and green. The length of the flag is twice its width. The horizontal bands are of equal size and has the following symbolism:[1]

The coat of arms of the province without the encircling band and accompanying inscriptions and drawn in black outline is placed off-centered towards the hoist of the flag. It is placed two spaces equal to the width of the coat of arms from the edge away the hoist, and centrally placed in the remaining area towards the hoist, touching the blue stripe and the green stripe while straddling over the gold stripe. It is approximately 1 1/4 the width of any of the stripes, and the proportions of the width to the depth of the coat of arms will be 6:7. 29 white stars are also placed around the coat of arms which represents the twenty nine municipalities of the province.[1]
