History

In 2000, the History Channel produced a documentary called "Secrets of Lost Empires 2." It was hosted by Stacy Keach, published by PBS and was broadcast as part of PBS Nova series. In the episode "Pharaoh's Obelisk", produced in 1999, an obelisk is erected at the Fletcher Granite Company in Westford, Massachusetts. Many local were there to pull the obelisk the last 15 degrees in a full upright 90 degree position.

The episode is described as follows: "The soaring stone monuments known as obelisks were the Egyptian pharaohs' way of capturing a ray of revered sunlight in stone. In this section, follow NOVA's ultimately successful attempts to raise an obelisk." ·

In 2003, the company rebuilt their rail line, which connects to Pan Am Railways. At the time, they imported rock from Georgia and transferred it at Iron Horse Park onto trucks, which then transported the stone to the quarry.[1] In 2010, the company ceased operations due to declining revenue. [2] The company was sold in 2011,[3]

As of 2009, the company also owned a quarry in Milford, New Hampshire.[4]
