Florian Just (born 28 February 1982 in Nürnberg, Bavaria) is a German pair skater. With former partner Katharina Gierok, he is the 2011 German national bronze medalist. He previously competed with Mari Vartmann, with whom he is the 2007 German national silver medalist.

Career

Florian Just began skating at the age of five at the EC Nürnberg. At this time he also practiced artistic roller skating. He had some success on the Junior Grand Prix circuit as a single skater. He is the only German skater who reached an ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in the Men's competition.

Just moved to Munich because of the better training available at the Münchener EV. Here he continued five more years with single skating before he switched to pair skating in Berlin. His first partner was Mariana Kautz.

In January 2004 he teamed up with Mari-Doris Vartmann.[1] They were coached originally by Julia Gnilozubowa. In autumn 2004 they switched to Knut Schubert. They practiced in Dortmund and also in Berlin. In 2009, just after the NRW-Trophy, the pair split up.

In spring 2010, Just teamed up with Katharina Gierok.[2] Karel Fajfr coaches the pair. They won silver at NRW Trophy and bronze at Warsaw Cup. At 2011 German Nationals, they won the bronze medal and were selected to compete at the European Championships. They finished 11th in their debut at the event, with a combined total of 118.06 points. Gierok and Just ended their partnership at the end of the 2011-12 season.

Just is a member of the club Essener Jugend-Eiskunstlauf Verein. He is a sport-soldier at the Bundeswehr.
