Focus Financial Partners, LLC is a New York-based partnership of independent wealth management firms.[1] The company was included on Inc. magazine’s 5000 ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies in 2014, 2011 and 2010.[2][3] In 2012, Focus Financial Partners was named a Crain’s New York Business “Fast 50” growth firms in New York City. As of 2015, Focus Financial Partners has returned nearly $300 million to investors through a private-equity partnership with Centerbridge Partners and a stock repurchase program.[4]

History and Areas of Expertise

Founded in 2006, by 2014 Focus had $325 million in annual revenue, 33 partners firms and affiliates, and over 1000 employees across the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.[5] The Wall Street Journal noted that Focus partner firms maintain their “entrepreneurial independence” while they benefit from the synergies, scale, economics and best practices of a market leader to help them achieve their business objectives.[6] According to news reports, Focus has been one of the leaders in the shift of financial advisors from wirehouse broker dealers to registered investment advisors (RIAs)[7] and its business has grown in tandem with this major shift.

Ruediger (Rudy) Adolf, Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Rudy founded Focus in 2006. He was previously Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Global Brokerage and Banking division of American Express. Before that, he was a partner at McKinsey and Company in New York, primarily focusing on financial services firms. He began his career with McKinsey in Munich.

Rajini Kodialam, Co-Founder and Managing Director

Rajini was a Vice President at American Express in New York where she managed the overall online experience for the U.S. Consumer Card and Travel businesses. Rajini was previously at McKinsey & Company in New York, specializing in consumer financial services firms.

Leonard (Lenny) Chang, Co-Founder and Managing Director

Lenny is a co-founder and was previously with the Boston Consulting Group.
