Foundation for Open Access Statistics

The Foundation for Open Access Statistics (FOAS) was established in 2012 with a world-wide mission to promote free software, open access publishing, and reproducible research in statistics. It is a nonprofit public benefit corporation registered in California, with federal tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Section 501(c)(3). Its officers are Jan de Leeuw, Katharine Mullen, and Achim Zeileis. FOAS is the publisher of the Journal of Statistical Software, an open access journal for advances in computational statistics. FOAS promotes an open access publishing model that is free for both authors and readers.[1] This model relies on volunteer editors, reviewers, and programmers, and uses free software such as LaTeX and Open Journal Systems in publication.[2]
