The company was founded by two entrepreneurs in Montorio, near Verona in 1999.[1] The founders, Giuseppe Albarelli and Andrea Pensiero, discovered an old Franklin & Marshall College (based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania) jumper in a London charity shop, and started a fashion label because they liked the name.[2] About a year later the College contacted them, and despite being initially negative, they became supportive and appreciated the publicity.[2]
90% of their clothing is made in Italy.[3]
