Frederic Palen Schoonmaker

Frederic Palen Schoonmaker (March 11, 1870 – September 5, 1945) was a United States federal judge.

Born in Limestone, New York, Schoonmaker received an A.B. from Cornell University in 1891 and read law to enter the bar in 1894. He was in private practice in Bradford, Pennsylvania from 1894 to 1913. He was a Captain, Pennsylvania National Guard from 1912 to 1917. He was in the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel from 1917 to 1919. He was in private practice in Bradford, Pennsylvania from 1919 to 1923.

Schoonmaker was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Schoonmaker was nominated by President Warren G. Harding on December 20, 1922, to a new seat created by 42 Stat. 837. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on December 22, 1922, and received his commission the same day. Schoonmaker served in that capacity until his death.
