Frederick William Smith (31 March 1861 in Uitenhage, Cape Province – 17 April 1914 in Johannesburg, Transvaal) was a South African cricketer who played in 3 Tests from 1889 to 1896.
Smith captained both Kimberley and Transvaal and was instrumental in the formation of the Transvaal Cricket Union. He won many trophies as a sprinter. He was a quick scoring batsman, a wicket-keeper as well as a change bowler. Not much is known of either his pre-cricket background or his post-cricket life.[1]
