The Freed.in logo

Freed.in was an annual free and open-source software (FOSS) conference held in New Delhi, India from 2007 to 2009.

Formerly known as Freedel, the event promoted freedom in technology and personal privacy in software and other related fields. The underlying theme behind the event was to make free and open source software more visible to the world, and share its excitement with everybody.[1] It also aimed to help nurture the community and enable networking within and outside it in a fun environment, as well as seed new projects.

History

This event was organized by the Delhi chapter of the India Linux Users Group, ILUG-Delhi, that had conducted awareness and proof-of-concept events since 2004.[2]

The event Freed.in was renamed in April 2007, and the 2007 incarnation was held on September 28 and 29 at the School of Information Technology, Jawaharlal Nehru University Campus, New Delhi. The list of categories for invited papers was:
