The Freedom Pro Baseball League was an independent baseball league based in Arizona that played in 2012 & 2013. The league started with four teams in 2012.[1] The Copper State Prospectors won the initial league title in 2012[2] and repeated as champions in 2013.[3]
Joe Sperle is the president and founder of the Freedom League. Sperle, the owner of Joe Sperle's Baseball School, has over 20 years playing and coaching experience.[4][5]
The league had some financial difficulties in its initial season.[6] They returned in 2013 with a new schedule that included interleague games against teams of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs.[7] They signed former Major League Baseball player Joey Gathright to one of the clubs for 2013.[8]
The league did not play in 2014 because they were unable to work out a lease agreement with Kino Stadium.[9]
