Friedrich-Wilhelm Maes (25 November 1913 – 19 March 1945) was a highly decorated Kapitänleutnant in the Kriegsmarine during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Friedrich-Wilhelm Maes died on 19 March 1945 in Gotenhafen during the East Pomeranian Offensive. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 25 March 1945.
