Frontier is an upcoming Canadian historical drama television series. Co-created by Brad Peyton, Rob Blackie and Peter Blackieand, Frontier will chronicle the North American fur trade of the 1800s.[1]
The series will air domestically on Discovery Channel as its first original scripted production, and was acquired by Netflix for international distribution.[1]
Casting
Jason Momoa will star, joined by Alun Armstrong, Allan Hawco, Landon Liboiron, and Jessica Matten.[1]'[1]
Broadcast
Frontier will premiere on Discovery Channel Canada in 2016, with a six-episode order for season 1; it marks the channel's first original scripted commission.[2] In November 2015, Netflix acquired digital rights to the series outside of Canada. Per the agreement, it will not appear on Netflix in Canada until 2018.[1] The series will be produced in 4K ultra high definition; on January 8, 2016, Bell Media confirmed that Frontier would stream in 4K via the Discovery Go app for Samsung 4K smart TVs.[3]
