Fujiwara no Moromichi

Fujiwara no Moromichi (藤原 師通, 1062 – July 18, 1099), also known as Go-nijyo dono (後二条殿) or Nijyo-kampaku (二条関白), son of Morozane, was a kugyo during the late Heian period. He was a head of the Fujiwara clan and served as kampaku and udaijin. He assisted Emperor Horikawa against the cloistered rule of the then-retired Emperor Shirakawa. His death at age of 38 led Shirakawa to consolidate his power.
