"Funky Broadway" is a song written by Arlester "Dyke" Christian. It was originally recorded by his band, Dyke & the Blazers, in 1967, and was made into a hit by Wilson Pickett that same year.
The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart and number eight on its Hot 100 chart.[1] The song is notable as being the first charted single with the word "Funky" in the title as well as being prototypical funk music itself.

The "Broadway" referred to in the title is the original Dyke and the Blazers song is Broadway in Buffalo, New York as well as Broadway Street in Phoenix, Arizona, not the famous Broadway in New York City.
