G.F.A. Cup

The Gozo Football Association Cup, commonly known as the G.F.A. Cup, is a knockout cup competition in Gozo football, run by and named after Gozo Football Association.

The competition is played between the clubs of the Gozitan First Division and Second Division. The first G.F.A. Cup competition took place in the season 1972-1973.

The current cup holders are Sannat Lions, who won the cup for the ninth time after an absence of 27 years by defeating Kercem Ajax 2-1 in extra-time on 13 May 2010.

Format

All the teams from the Second Division and the teams which placed from 3rd to 7th position in the previous First Division participate in the preliminary round. The 6 winning teams make it to the quarter-finals together with the two teams which topped the previous First Division.
