G. Satheesh Reddy is an Indian scientist. He is director of the Research Centre Imarat of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, an advanced centre for design and delivery of avionics systems for missiles and other applications.[4][5][6] Reddy pioneered many technological developments for Indian Missiles and has made significant contributions towards successful flight testing of the country's maiden intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) Agni-V mission.[7][8] In June 2015 he was appointed scientific adviser to the defence minister of India.[9]

Recognition

Reddy is a fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation in London, the first from India.[6] He is a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a member of the Academy of Navigation and Motion Control, Russia,[10] a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering[11] and an honorary fellow of the Computer Society of India.[12]

Reddy received the Homi J. Bhabha Memorial Award of the Indian Science Congress Association for 2013–14.[13] In 2015 he was the first Indian recipient of the Silver Medal of the Royal Aeronautical Society.[14] He has been conferred with National Systems Gold Medal,[15] Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Award of the Institution of Engineers (India),[16] and Systems Society of India Vikram Award.[17]

In 2015 he received honorary doctorates in science from Amity University, Noida, GITAM University, Hyderabad,[18] KL University, Guntur[19] and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada.[20][21][22] Reddy was chosen for the first Institution of Engineers (India) - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (United States) joint award for engineering excellence.[23] Satheesh is Chairman of Aeronautical Society of India, Hyderabad and has initiated the international collaborations for promotion of Aerospace sector in India.[24]
