Gandelger Ganbold (Mongolian: Гандэлгэр Ганболд, born 8 August 1995) is a Mongolian international football player who played in England for the Tottenham Hotspur B, as a Midfielder.[1] He is considered to be the future of the Mongolia national football team.[2][3]

Early life

Gandelger was born on 8th August 1995 in Erdenet, Mongolia to Delgermaa and Ganbold. His family were originally humble nomadic farmers but moved to the capital city of Mongolia in his early childhood. Gandelger studied at Ireedui tsogtsolbor from the age of nine to eleven. He then moved to Seoul, Korea with his parents where he studied at Sinmook Football Academy from 2007 to 2009. This is where his football aspirations proliferated as he soon began to train to become a professional football player. Gandelger was hooked on the game. After his successful time at the Sinmook Football Academy he then moved to Gongneung Football Academy in 2009 to 2010 before moving to London, England.

Despite facing many language barriers, he became fluent in Korean and English in a matter of few years and did well in his academic studies. Gandelger studied at Salesian College and then moved to Saint John Bosco College. During his highschool years, Gandelger played for the Battersea Lions FC playing in local tournament Wimbledon & District Football League.

Career

Born in Ulan Bator, Gandelger played in the South Korea.[2] Then he moved to England where he played for the Battersea Lions FC, playing in local tournament Wimbledon & District Football League.[2] In the 2013-2014 season, he became one of the top scorers.[4] When he was 17, he was selected by Spurs coaches and began to play in the reserve team and academy of the club.[2][5] During his time at the Tottenham Hotspurs FC, his abilities grew tremendously.

In 2014 he was included in the Mongolia national football team for the match against Timor-Leste (12 March).[6][7] He made his debut for the national under-23 team in the match against China (27 March, defeat 5:0) in the AFC u23 championship league. Gandelger was praised nationally for his football abilities where his documentary as the first Mongolian to play in Europe was watched all over Mongolia.
