Ganogen Research Institute
Ganogen Research Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to medical research and ending the shortage of donor organs.[1] Headquartered in Redwood City, California, researchers from the Ganogen Research Institute performed the world's first successful human-to-animal kidney transplantation by transplanting human fetal kidneys into rats.[2] The animals were shown to survive solely on the transplanted human fetal kidney for an average of 4 months compared to 3 days for animals with their native kidneys removed.[3]
