Garry Stewart

Garry Stewart (born 1962) has been the artistic director of the Australian Dance Theatre since 1999, following Meryl Tankard.

Stewart studied at the Sydney City Ballet Academy (1983) and the Australian Ballet School (19841985). He has danced with the Australian Dance Theatre, the Queensland Ballet, Expressions Dance Company and The One Extra Dance Company (Onex) and has performed with the Sydney Theatre Company.

Stewart began his dance training in 1983 at the before studying at the between. As a performer he appeared with a number of companies including. He also worked on many independent projects. In 1989 he performed the role of Luke in production of Harold in Italy. He founded the dance company Thwack in 1997.
