Gary Lowe (born 1 January 1960) is an English football manager and former player. He is currently first team manager at Hyde United. In May 2011 he was appointed manager of Conference North side Hyde United for the first time until resigning the following year .

Managerial career

Woodley Sports

In the summer of 1999, Lowe was appointed manager of North West Counties Football League side Woodley Sports. In his only season in charge he won Division Two after pipping future club Curzon Ashton to the title on the final day. His reign ended after one season and shortly after departing, he was appointed manager of rivals Curzon Ashton.[1]

Curzon Ashton

Lowe's second managerial job was at non-league side Curzon Ashton, where he was appointed in the summer of 2000. In his eleven-year stint at the club he led the club to the Worthington Challenge Trophy Final, which they lost on penalties, he also got promoted from the North West Counties Football League, during the 2006–07 season that meant they would be playing in the Northern Premier League Division One North for the following season. He also managed to get Curzon Ashton into the second round proper of the FA Cup, which remains the furthest stage of the competition that the club got to as well as semi-finalists in the FA Vase for the first time since the 1979–80 season.[2] And in his final year in charge he guided Curzon Ashton to the first round proper of the FA Trophy for the first time in their history.[3]

Hyde

In the summer of 2011, Lowe was appointed manager of Conference North side Hyde ahead of the 2011–12 season. In his only season in charge, he achieved promotion to the Conference Premier and following this success he resigned in May 2012, after he was unhappy at the playing budget he had been offered for next season.[4]

Hyde United return

On the 3 January 2015, Lowe was re-appointed manager of Hyde United again after the sacking of Scott McNiven, following a 7–1 defeat against Stalybridge Celtic.[5] However he was unable to save the club from relegation to the Northern Premier League Division, which was confirmed after a 1–1 draw with AFC Fylde In March 2015.[6] In May 2015, it was confirmed that Lowe would remain manager of Hyde United for the upcoming season, after he agreed to stay on.[7]
