Gary Whitbread

Gary George Whitbread (1 July 1957 – 10 January 2011) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batman and wicket-keeper who played for Huntingdonshire. He was born in Huntingdon.

Whitbread, who played for Cambridgeshire in the Minor Counties Championship between 1985 and 1989, and in the Minor Counties Trophy for Huntingdonshire between 1998 and 2002, made a single List A appearance for the side during the 1999 NatWest Trophy, against Bedfordshire. From the tailend, he scored 3 not out.

After retirement from cricket, Whitbread was a keen footballer and regularly played for Kempston Athletic. He also held the position of Huntingdonshire County Cricket Club Chairman. Whitbread died on 10 January 2011 at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge following a three-month battle with illness.[1]
