Gaspard Abeille

Gaspard Abeille (1648 – 22 May 1718) was a French lyric and tragic poet, born in Riez, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. He was educated with the aim of a career in the church and received the title of Abbé. In 1704, he was elected a member of the Académie française. His brother Scipion was also a poet and a surgeon.
