Gemilang Coachworks is a bus bodybuilder in Malaysia.

History

Gemilang Coachworks was founded on 23 September 1989 assembling wooden buses and trucks. In 1999, it entered a partnership with SKS Coachbuilders and became the licence holder for Alusuisse products in Asia.[1]

In Australia, it has a joint venture with Northcoast Bus & Coach.[2] It has assembled Volgren body kits.

Gemilang has exported over 3,000 buses to Australia, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam. It entered the Australian market in 1999 exporting of over 150 units. Since 2007, Gemilang has bodied 1,101 Scania buses (Scania K230UB), one Scania K310UD (SBS7888K) and one Volvo B9TL (SBS7777Y) for SBS Transit and 134 Mercedes-Benz OC500LE buses, 734 MAN NL323F A22, 40 MAN NG363F A24 and 17 MAN A95 (SMB5888H to SMB5904U) for SMRT Corporation.

Fleet

Those bus fleets were being fitted with Gemilang Coachworks Bodywork and in Singapore, Scania K230UB was the first to be built in Gemilang bodywork.
