Gemma-Leah Devereux (born 9 August 1990) is an Irish actress. She is best known for playing Lady Elizabeth Fitzgearld in CBC/Showtime co-production The Tudors and nurse Aoife O'Reilly in BBC Casualty.

Early life

Born in Dublin, Republic of Ireland where she attended Loreto Secondary School St Stephens Green. She is the youngest of 3 children. Devereux left school at the age of 16 and the following year moved to London to study drama. She trained at the Arts Educational Schools, London for three years.[1]

Acting career

Devereux made her theatrical appearance in The Dreamers of Inishdara at the Jermyn Street Theatre alonside "Rocky Horror Show" star Patricia Quinn.[2] However, she is best known for her role as Lady Elizabeth Fitzgerald in Showtime's historical fiction television series The Tudors. She starred as Kate alongside Ross Noble and Tommy Knight in "Stitches" directed by Conor McMahon which premiered at Film4 Frightfest 2012 in Empire Leiceister Square. She has starred in Comedown,[3] an upcoming urban horror-thriller film about a bunch of South-East London teens break into an abandoned, condemned tower block to install an aerial for a Pirate Radio Station. It is directed by Menhaj Huda,[4] and starring Adam Deacon, Geoff Bell, Jessica Barden, Sophie Stuckey, Slaine Kelly and Jacob Anderson. The film will be premiered in the Grimmfest 2012 film festival on 4 October.[5]
