Gemma Morris
Gemma Morris is a British television news presenter and journalist for Sky News. She presents Sky's weekly technology show "Swipe" and is also seen reporting for the channel, as well as fronting the digital 3 minute news and showbiz bulletins. Gemma was formerly the regular presenter for Channel 5's lunchtime and weekend TV news programmes.
Born in Roehampton and raised in New Malden, she studied at Richmond College before taking up documentary film-making and then a journalism degree at the London College of Communication. She achieved a 2:2 at university.[1] During this time she freelanced for the ITV News Channel, as well as for local radio, to gain experience as a producer/reporter. She also worked for the Houston Chronicle newspaper at their European Bureau after graduating.[1]
Post university, Morris continued to work as a broadcast journalist for local radio in Tolworth, as well as ITN radio, and ITV News. She took up an editorial internship with Sky News Radio in 2006, before moving into interactive producing at Sky News, while also working as a presenter for the Sky Sports News web bulletins. She later became a presenter on the Sky News TV channel.[1]
She was a presenter of 5 News bulletins on Channel 5 from 2009 until 15 February 2012.
Morris lives in Richmond. After smashing her pelvis in a skiing accident,[1] she now enjoys a very active lifestyle.[2]
She also has a severe and potentially fatal nut allergy and suffered from binge eating and bulimia.[3]
