Sequence (geology)
A sequence in geology refers to a sequence of geological events, processes, or rocks, arranged in chronological order.
A rock stratigraphical sequence is a geographical, or lithostratigraphic, discrete unit greater than a group or supergroup rank, and traceable over large areas of a continent. A stratigraphic sequence is bounded by unconformities of interregional scope, such as in the division of cratons.
