Georg Lisiewski
Jerzy Liszewski, or Georg Lisiewski (1674 – 1750), was a Polish Baroque portrait painter active in Berlin.
Biography
He was born in Olesko, a town formerly in Poland but now in Ukraine, that was also the birthplace of the King of Poland, Jan III Sobieski. He was probably taught by painters active at Olesko Castle, but he moved to Berlin in 1692, where he became the father of the German painters Anna Dorothea Therbusch, Anna Rosina de Gasc, and Christoph Friedrich Reinhold Lisiewski. He was also the teacher of the painter Thomas Huber (1700-1779).[1]
He died in Berlin.[1]
