George Hirschboeck
George J. Hirschboeck (June 6, 1922 – June 2, 1993) was an American priest, missionary, and humanitarian from Milwaukee, Wisconsin who directed a catechitical center in Kyoto, Japan from the 1950s until his death.[1]
He improved the working conditions of Japanese silk artisans in Kyoto and erected the Church of the Holy Spirit—a building of contemporary architecture incorporating many of the beautiful designs and feathers of both East and West. The church is a tourist attraction because of its beauty and originality.[2]
