Major-General Sir George Pemberton Ross Norton KCVO CBE is a British Army officer.

Military career

Norton was commissioned into the Grenadier Guards in 1984.[1] He was appointed Secretary of the Chiefs of Staff Committee in 2005[2] before being deployed to Afghanistan in early 2007 and being appointed CBE for his services there.[3] He went on to be Commander of 38th (Irish) Brigade[4] in Northern Ireland in June 2007[5] and Commander of British troops there in January 2009[6] before being made Deputy Regional Commander in Helmand Province in early 2010[7] and General Officer Commanding London District and Major-General commanding the Household Division in June 2011.[8] He was appointed KCVO on 25 June 2013 following an audience of The Queen.[9] He became Deputy Commander NATO Rapid Deployment Corps in Naples in July 2013.[9]
