Georgios

Georgios (Γεώργιος [ʝeˈorʝos]) is a Greek name derived from the word γεωργός (georgos, "farmer" lit. "earth-worker"). The word γεωργός is a compound of γῆ (ge, "earth", "soil") and ἔργον (ergon, "task", "undertaking", "work").[1][2] The English name "George" is derived from it. It is one of the most usual given names in Greece and Cyprus. The name day is 23 April.[3] Georgios may refer to:
