Giorgos Kamaras (1931 - 2000)[1] was a Greek footballer. His name has been joined with the history of Apollon Athens. In honour of him, the stadium of Apollon Athens, in the Athenian district of Rizoupoli, is named Giorgos Kamaras Stadium.[2]

Career

His career has been joined with Apollon Athens. He played in Apollon during decades of 50 and 60. In 1961-62 season, scoring 19 goals, led Apollon in the third place, the best performance so far.[3] He also played in Greek National Team 4 times, scoring 1 goal.[4] He died in 2000. In honour of him, the stadium of Apollon is named Giorgos Kamaras, since 2005.
