Gergis, Libya

Gergis is an Ancient city and former bishopric in Roman Libya, now a Latin Catholic titular see.

Its modern location in Zargis, in Libya.

History

Gergis was important enough in the Roman province of Tripolitania to become a suffragan bishopric, but was to fade.

The diocese was nominally restored in 1933 as a Latin Catholic titular bishopric .
