Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

Gerhard Kauffmann (29 June 1887 – 16 June 1969) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Gerhard Kauffmann was retired from active service on 30 September 1943 after arguing with Adolf Hitler.
