Getmii is an on demand mobile application for every service, question and good created by Max Meyer, Darryl Lau and Matthias Juergens.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] Using the application, users post whatever they need and wait for others nearby to respond. Each post stays on the app for a limited time, after which the post is deleted. The app is available for download on iOS and Android.[9][10][3]

History

In early 2015, the founders were in Bangkok, Thailand developing a logistics application. Inspired in part by the April 2015 Nepal Earthquake, they expanded the platform beyond logistics to allow posts of all kinds, including emergency disaster relief.[1][3][4] Getmii CTO Juergens led product development which took place over 2.5 months in Bangkok, Thailand. Getmii held its first pilot test with the Red Cross Central Donation Center in Nepal on September 10, 2015, before launching officially on Monday, April 4, 2016.[1][3][4][5][6][8]

Getmii currently works out of their office space at the Harvard Launch Lab, where they currently run marketing operations and employ several interns for Boston colleges.

Features

The Need Feed

The "Need Feed" tab displays a list of posts sorted by proximity. From this The "Need Feed" serves as the application's home screen and changes constantly as posts expire and new ones are added.[11][12][13][14]

Groups

Any user can create a private group and invite others via a unique link.

The "Editors of Wikipedia" Group can be joined by downloading the app and visiting the following link on mobile: http://bit.ly/1pLP6zg

Glory

Users earn "Glory," which is measured in points.[13] Users earn "Glory" through the following actions:[15]

Anonymous Posting

Users can choose to post or respond anonymously. An anonymous poster retains anonymity within the private chat.[15][16] The feature is similar to anonymous posting app Yik Yak.[17]

Private Chat

After a user clicks "I'm interested" on any need, he or she enters into a private chat with the poster. From here, a user can share contact information, chat for fun and share location.[18]

Location Sharing

Because many needs require some level of face-to-face interaction, Getmii allows users to share location from within its private chat feature.[16]

Facebook Login

As two major concerns with transactions are credibility and quality assurance, the application requires users to log in with an active Facebook account.[13] The application automatically pulls the users first name and profile picture from Facebook.[19]
