Ghakhar

Ghakhar (Punjabi, Urdu:گکھڑ )is a small village in the Attock District of Pakistan.

It is located near Kala-Chitta Pahar, 8 km from Fateh Jang and 36 km from Attock.

The village's name derives from an ancient Hindu leader named "Ghakhar" as before partition Hindus also lives there.

Geography

Lying in the tehsil of Fateh Jang, between 35°30′ and 35°65′ N. and 75°33′ and 73°15′ E. Geographically, it is mainly hills, plateaus and dissected plains.

Climate

Ghakhar has a changeable climate with warm, wet summers and cold winters. Max. Temperature in summer reaches up to 47 °C and in winters Min. temperature reaches -1°. The average rainfall in District Attock is 783 mm.

Population

Before Partition, half of the population was Muslims and half was Hindus & Sikhs. But after partition Hindus & Sikhs were migrated to India. Now there is 100% Muslims population and that is approx. 6000.
