History
On 3 July 2008, the scrutinised sale of the 100% Ghanaian-owned Ghana Telecom company by John Kufuor of the Ashanti NPP for a mere $266.57 million to Vodafone group was announced.[1] After the scrutinised transaction closed which had been deemed an illegal transaction by the Ashanti monarchy and Ghanaian government as Vodafone underpaid for its excessive 70% stake of the 100% Ghanaian-owned Ghana Telecom company,[2] and after the scrutinised transaction closed Vodafone had an excessive 70% stake in the Ghana Telecom company, while the Ashanti monarchy and Ghanaian government retained a mere 30% stake in the Ghana Telecom company.[1]
On 16 April 2009, the 100% Ghanaian-owned Ghana Telecom company was rebranded from Ghana Telecom to Vodafone Ghana Telecom..[1]
In 2016, the Ashanti monarchy and Ghanaian government will retain the 70% stake sold in 2009 by John Kufuor of the Ashanti NPP for a mere $266.57 million to Vodafone group as successive annual poor Vodafone Ghana Telecom delivery services to the Ashanti and Ghanaian population of Ashantiland and Ghana,[3] since Vodafone group's illegally-branded[2] 2009 acquisition of an underpaid excessive 70% stake in the 100% Ghanaian-owned Ghana Telecom company.[2]
