Gigulate is a UK-based Music and News website, founded in January 2009. On August 1, 2009, Gigulate launched its own personalisation service, allowing users to nominate their favorite artists and to be notified when one of them makes the news.
Using its own technology, Gigulate aggregates music-related non-audio content from across the internet and sorts it by Artist, Popularity, Location and other criteria. Once users have personalised the service they can choose to receive alerts either by e-mail or by Twitter.
History
The idea behind Gigulate came from a discussion in 2008 between founders Ben Perreau, John Martin and Duncan Amey whilst considering the availability of Music Recommendation and Music News.
API/Widgets
Gigulate's API allows other websites to integrate the content which Gigulate aggregates onto their own. It is currently free to use and is used by a multitude of websites, including Artrocker. Gigulate also offers a widgets service, allowing users to carry the content easily.
