Gina Sanders

Gina Sanders is a New Zealand opera singer. She is a soprano, based in Auckland, but regularly fulfilling concert engagements in Europe.

In 1986 she made her operatic debut as Norina in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale for Perkel Opera.

In 1987, while studying with Beatrice Webster, she was the first New Zealand singer to be awarded a Rotary International Graduate Scholarship, studying in Germany at the Stuttgart Liederclass and Opera School with Sylvia Geszty and Konrad Richter. Appearances with the Reutlingen Philharmonic Orchestra and at the Stuttgart Liederhalle received excellent reviews and the following year Gina was awarded the New Zealand Society Prize at the Royal Overseas League competitions in London.

A fluent German speaker, she is known for her interpretation of Lieder.

Vocally, her voice is noted for a beauty and purity of tone; which is coupled with a powerful emotional delivery.

In 2005 she travelled to Rimini to deliver a tribute concert for Italian soprano Renata Tebaldi.

Gina Sanders is also a teacher of voice and piano who has delivered voice master classes internationally.

Gina Sanders sang one of the main roles in the world premier from the Opera "Aqua,Terra,Aether" (based on the Little Mairmade of Hans Christian Andersen) from Russian Composer Vladimir Romanov on January 13, 2011 in Stuttgart

Gina Sanders currently teaches singing at Macleans College. She also coaches their choir - Macleans Chorale.
