Seijuu Sentai Gingaman (星ç£æˆ¦éšŠã‚®ãƒ³ã‚¬ãƒžãƒ³ SeijÅ« Sentai Gingaman, [Note 1]) is a Japanese tokusatsu television series. It is Toei's 22nd entry of the Super Sentai television series. The series aired from February 22, 1998 to February 14, 1999 airing alongside Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack. Its footage was used in the adaptation of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.
This series is not to be confused with the one-time villainous but humorous Sentai from Chikyu Sentai Fiveman, the Ginga Sentai Gingaman.
Plot
Three thousand years ago, the Space Pirates Barban invaded Earth. The Star Beasts and the first Gingamen, warriors of the Ginga Forest, fought them with a mystical power known as Earth and eventually imprisoned them. The Ginga people later cloaked their forest within marked boundaries and passed on the duty of the Ginga warriors through generations.
In the present day, Hyuuga, Hayate, Gouki, Hikaru and Saya are chosen as the 133rd warriors of the Star Beast Swords. Ryouma is very happy that his elder brother Hyuuga succeeds to the title. When Elder Ohghi holds the succession ceremony of Star Beast Swords, an earthquake breaks the seal on the Barban.
Ohghi orders the 133rd warriors to get the Ginga Braces hidden in Roaring Mountain. However, the Barban attacks them to prevent the birth of the new Gingamen. During the battle, Hyuuga is swallowed into a crack in the ground created by the Barban's leader, Captain Zahab. Enraged, Ryouma activates his hidden Earth power and awakens the Ginga Braces. The Gingaman fight together with the Star Beasts against the Barban, who desire to revive the Demon Beast Daitanix, on whose corpse they built their castle.
Gingamen
The Gingamen are descendants of the original Gingamen from the Ginga Forest who use a fighting style originating 3,000 years ago and are chosen at a ceremony to become the current Gingamen.
- Ryouma/Ginga Red (リョウマ/ギンガレッド RyÅma/Ginga Reddo)
- The team leader who assumed the title of Ginga Red to honor his brother. His Earth power is fire and his Star Beast partner is Gingaleon.
- Hayate/Ginga Green (ãƒãƒ¤ãƒ†/ギンガグリーン Hayate/Ginga GurÄ«n)
- The cool and quick-witted second in command, he is an expert flute player. His Earth power is wind and his Star Beast partner is Gingalcon.
- Gouki/Ginga Blue (ゴウã‚/ギンガブルー GÅki/Ginga BurÅ«)
- The gentle-hearted strongman whose Earth power is water. His Star Beast partner is Gingarilla.
- Hikaru/Ginga Yellow (ヒカル/ギンガイエãƒãƒ¼ Hikaru/Ginga YerÅ)
- The mischievous glutton of the team whose Earth power is thunder. His Star Beast partner is Gingaverick.
- Saya/Ginga Pink (サヤ/ギンガピンク Saya/Ginga Pinku)
- The introverted female member of the team. Her Earth power is flowers and her Star Beast partner is Gingat.
- Hyuuga/Black Knight (ヒュウガ/黒騎士 Hyūga/Kurokishi)
- Originally meant to be Ginga Red, Hyuga was presumed dead until he resurfaced and inherited Bullblack's ability to become the Black Knight. His Earth power is fire and his Star Beast partner is Goutaurus.
Space Pirates Barban
The Space Pirates Barban (宇宙海賊ãƒãƒ«ãƒãƒ³ UchÅ« Kaizoku Baruban) are a group of pirates who have destroyed many planets along the Milky Way. Their headquarters, the Rowdy Invincible Castle (è’ãれ無敵城 Arakure MutekijÅ), is mounted on the back of Daitanix. They once tried to invade Earth 3,000 years ago, but the first generation of Gingamen and the Star Beasts sealed them at the bottom of the sea. In the present day, an earthquake brakes the seal and releases the Barban, who plan to awaken Daitanix in our time. Its four great armies plot various strategies in order to achieve it.
