Gitanagar is a village development committee in Chitwan District in the Narayani Zone of southern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 11,173 people living in 2101 individual households.[1]

The town was named after "Geeta Rani" during Rapti Land Distribution Project in early 1950s. It is also divided into 9 wards. And there are even names of wards there like Amarbasti, Parasnagar,Geetangar, Champanagar, Devnagar,Uzzolnagar, prithibinagar, Kesharbhag and Indrapuri etc.

To Promote local culture Gitanagar has one FM radio station Radio Narayani - 105.2 MHZ Which is a Community radio Station.
