The snakehead gudgeon (Giuris margaritacea) is a species of sleeper goby found in marine, brackish, and fresh waters from Madagascar to Melanesia. This species grows to a length of 23 cm (9.1 in) with a maximum recorded weight of 171 g (6.0 oz). This species is important to the local peoples as a food fish. This species is the only known member of its genus.[2]
